Let the journey begin

Welcome to my first blog post. I have created this blog as a place where I can keep a diary of building my new business whilst teaching other 'newbie' women around the world how to get started online.
I have built many businesses over the last 3 years, one about

  • gratitude journals
  • a journal for women diagnosed with breast cancer to raise money for research
  • a coordinated kids website to keep kids healthy and fit
  • and many other online businesses for other people
Besides my breast cancer business which I was most proud of, this business is the one I am most passionate about. Why, because I love what I do. I love the lifestyle it gives me, the challenge and satisfaction of working for myself as well as the ability to help other women experience the same, if that is what they choose to do.
So what I decided to do when I built my new website was just create a shell. I thought there is no better way to teach people what I do then to show them step by step as I build my own new business.
So what I am going to be doing is creating a weekly diary of what I do each week to help build my business. Those who are interested in following what I am doing, and learning along the way will benefit from following my weekly posts.
I am also creating an 8 week tutorial course (starting in the New Year) where I will be videoing what I am doing. People will be able to sign up for the course and over eight weeks will receive videos for them to follow to help them build their own online business as well as create information products.
I do not have a complete map set out yet. I want those learning from me to tell me what it is they want me to teach them or learn and then I will create a video tutorial or blog post on that topic. So please use the comments box below because I will be using this to gather my information.
My website builder is Storesonline which I have been using for 3 years. I will be using the backend of this website builder for some of my demonstrations but I will also use some free ones so that people can learn without spending lots of money. I have a couple of inexpensive website builders on my website if you want to check it out @ http://www.makingmoneyoninternetbasics.com
Okay to bring you up to date with what I have done so far please read on. I will probably go back and digress a little to go through each one so that you understand clearly what I did an why I did it. Below is just an overview of what I have done so far.

  1. Firstly, you must set a goal. I believe a 12mth goal is a realistic timeframe to stay on track. then from that 12 mth goal you must create monthly goals, then weekly, then daily. By doing this you set yourself targets that must be achieved and it is inevitable that you will reach your goal if you keep focused and on target.

  2. I created an ebook last year called 'Success It's Your Turn' which provides you with the workbook and templates to do this easily. For those people who purchase my new 'How To Build An Internet Business Without Spending A Cent' ebook before 25th December they will get a copy for FREE.

  3. Tip number two. I was watching another webnar the other day by Russell Brunson and he was saying how one ebook can become the 'blue print' for your whole online business. It was really simple. For example my new ebook has 9 different topics and what he is saying is that those topics then become the blueprint for your business. In other words you build your products around the basis of the knowledge in your ebook eg I can create a webnar on my ebook. I can also create an audio of my ebook. But I can create an audio on each separate topic in my ebook. I can then create a workshop on one of the topics in my ebook and then I can create video tutorials on another topic in my ebook. Does it start to make sense how one ebook can actually build a complete buisiness.

  4. Success on the internet comes from getting customers into your 'funnel' and selling to that customer over and over again. It is a well know fact that it is much easier to upsell on an ongoing basis to someone who has already purchased from you than it is to get a new customer.

  5. It is very important then to create products to be able to upsell to your new customers over a period of time. An ebook is usually just a front end sale or free gift to get your customer into your funnell then you create other higher ticket items to sell to them over and over again (note it does not always have to be your product it can be a JV with someone else or an affiliates products, but this must become part of your business plan).

  6. Then he suggested that you rinse and start again on another website. The key to making a lot of money online is to have multiple streams of income from different niches that are of interest to you. For example my ebay business has nothing at all to do with my 'newbies coaching' business and I am also looking into a few other niches once I get this business off the ground.

  7. So I have created my ebook, I have built the framework of my website but most importantly I have created a 'free gift' to be able to capture people's information and create a list. Tip #2 There is no money online if you do not create a list. You can make a little bit of money but not the kind of money that will change your life so you must learn the different strategies for creating a list that you can upsell to on a regular basis.

  8. Then I went and created a squidoo page on making money on internet so that I could start getting links back to my website. This is also very important getting links. I have only just begun this and will be updating you next week to tell you what else I have been doing. There are so many different strategies to get links back to your website but the key is to get a lot of 'one way' links from 'high ranking' websites to work your way up in the search engines quickly.

  9. John Reese said something recently on one of his videos (he does great videos) about the more 'online realestate' you own the more successful you will become. What he means is the more articles, blogs, comments, forums and information that you contribute online the more of the internet you own. Because at the bottom of everything you post you are linking back to your website and each one of those links gives you another piece of ownership on the internet. The more backlinks you have, the higher quality score you have in the search engines and the higher the ranking you get. But more importantly the 'higher quality links' are the ones you really want ( but that's for another blog post'

Don't forget my website only launched 7 days ago so you have come just at the right time to watch me grow my business using different strategies that I learn from my mentors. The are just some of the people I admire and follow. Alexandria Brown, Eban Pagan, Frank Kern, Derek Gehl, Matt & Amanda Clarkson to name a few. If you want to find out more about them and their great tools you can visit my guru resources section of my website.

I specialise in helping people find a profitable niche in an area that they are knowledgable, skilled or passionate about and then teach them how to create a website and their own information products to sell online.

Well that is it from me. I am off to pick up my little boy from school. Have a great day and I will be back again next Friday (I will be posting regularly on Fridays) to give you an update of what I have been doing with my website, traffic plus building new products.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers

PS. Don't forget to check out some of the resource links on the side of my blog. Most of them are free and I highly recommend downloading them and starting to read them because I will be going through some of these resources and explaining how they work and how they will benefit your online business over the next couple of weeks. :)
